The Hidden Genius Project is a fast-growing, national organization founded by entrepreneurs. In 2012 we launched our flagship Intensive Immersion Program, serving five students in our first year, while staffed entirely by volunteers and a budget of $1,500. In year three, we were the winner of a $500K Google Impact Grant. By year five, Google doubled its investment with $1M in support. During year ten, Smartsheet amplified our impact by placing our logo on two F1 McLaren racecars.

Since 2012, we’ve served over 10,300 young people across all of our programming opportunities. Over 500 Geniuses have participated in our 15-month Intensive Immersion Program, with cohorts in Oakland, Richmond, Los Angeles, and Detroit, including Chicago and Atlanta (launching this Summer 2023).

Brothers Code features a Community Expo where young participants engage directly with community organizations and tech companies. Community partners and sponsors have the opportunity to showcase their products and offerings, demonstrating how technology can be leveraged to provide innovative solutions to solve problems and strengthen communities.

TECH SLAM INTERNATIONAL

DATE: Week of October 9th

In 2019, The Hidden Genius Project traveled to London and South Africa to host our 2nd Annual Tech Slam International, featuring a rich array of community partners, including Team Inc., Oakland Natives Gives Back, Chelsea Football Club Foundation, LEAP Science, and Math Schools, Colorintech, West Ham United Foundation, and a host of collaborators. During the pandemic, we pivoted our program to host an online Global Tech Slam, inviting students from around the globe to participate in programs throughout the month of July.

This October, we’ll be taking this transformative, intercontinental experience to expose hundreds of students to tech career pathways with the support of our program partners.

In addition to staying connected, many Hidden Genius Alumni return to serve as Youth Educators (facilitators) at Catalyst and Community Partner Programing. Several of the students have started successful businesses, working in their communities, and providing inspiration to the incoming students.
