This Women’s History Month, The Hidden Genius Project proudly celebrates Rayna Lett, our National Support Services Director, for being named 2026 Woman of the Year for California’s 20th Assembly District by Assemblymember Liz Ortega. Rayna will be honored on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 1pm on the Assembly floor at the State Capitol in Sacramento.
This recognition reflects a lifetime of service. For more than 25 years, Rayna has advanced opportunities for youth and families across Oakland and the greater Bay Area through education, workforce development, and community-based support. Her leadership has always been rooted in the belief that when young people are given meaningful support, entire communities move forward.
At The Hidden Genius Project, our mission is to train and mentor Black male youth in technology creation, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills to transform their lives and communities, and Rayna plays a critical role in bringing that mission to life. As Support Services Director, she helps create the conditions for young people to thrive, especially those navigating systems and barriers that too often limit opportunity. Her leadership has included developing programming for system-impacted youth and helping connect participants to pathways in technology, workforce training, and long-term success.
While our core work is centered on Black male youth, Rayna’s impact extends across the broader community. Through her role and relationships, she has also become a mentor and coach to young women, offering guidance, encouragement, and a powerful example of what principled leadership looks like. She embodies the spirit of Ubuntu in how she shows up for colleagues, families, and community members throughout the Bay Area, leading with care, accountability, and deep humanity.
Rayna’s service also reaches beyond our organization. She is a proud graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana, Board President of Inspiring Communities, Inc., a Commissioner on the Alameda County Human Relations Commission, co-founder of Regina’s Helping Hands, and an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
We are grateful to Assemblymember Liz Ortega for honoring women whose leadership strengthens the social fabric of our communities. Rayna represents that legacy fully, and her example helps light the way for the next generation. Congratulations!
